The long-awaited PCI MPoC standard for the payment acceptance industry was published by PCI SSC on November 16, 2022.

MPoC, which stands for Mobile Payments on COTS, is the new standard that provides a regulatory foundation for the latest innovations in digital payment solutions for acceptance. This standard complements the existing PCI SPoC and PCI CPoC standards that already address the security requirements for the use of solutions based on SoftPOS technology. The MPoC standard provides a broader and more flexible framework for the development and deployment of such solutions.

The standard, long announced by PCI, has been anticipated by the ecosystem in a number of areas; acceptance of payments requiring PIN entry, greater diversity in MPoC solutions offered, and in particular greater flexibility through the modular certification approach. The PCI MPoC standard aims to provide a secure and supportive environment for the development of software-based card payment acceptance solutions. With this standard, PCI is helping to increase confidence in solutions based on SoftPOS technology.  As PCI SSC is one of the best known standards bodies in the payments industry, the organization’s approval for the development of SoftPOS reinforces the future growth of this technology.

PCI MPoC was developed with input from 37 companies, including dejamobile, who were able to provide a total of 900 comments in two requests for comments organized by PCI.
We are pleased to have been able to contribute to the development of such standard that supports the widespread use of SoftPOS technology.
